I originally joined Substack because of BINDER, the magazine I’m building for people like me, who love planners, paper, creativity, and the whole world that surrounds them.
I was not looking for another social media platform. I was looking for my people.
Planner people. Writers. Creators. Small brands. People making beautiful things. People building something from an idea. People who still get ridiculously excited about paper.
The more time I spend here [on Substack], the more I wonder whether finding those people is partly about who I choose to follow?
Does Substack start to understand me based on the writers and publications I interact with? If I intentionally follow people whose work overlaps with the world I’m trying to build around BINDER Magazine, will I naturally begin finding more of that community? And maybe more interestingly, will they begin finding me?
